Mr O’Sullivan, the Headteacher, commented, “I am very pleased with the results of this year’s Year 11. These results are testament to the hard work of the students and teachers at Cardinal Newman. As a Catholic school we are about more than just examination results, but it is very pleasing to see our young people achieve so much. I am also confident that we can improve on these results again next year.”

The GCSE results come on the back of the best ever KS3 levels and a 7% rise in the number of students achieving A*-C at A Level.

Welcome to Cardinal Newman RC School

We are a bit different. Like all other schools, we are driven by a powerful desire to provide the best education and best life chances for all our young people.
We are also a community in which every person is cherished and where we daily try to make life good for each other. We are a Catholic community using the love Christ has for us as a model for our own lives. We are proud of our Welsh heritage and are blessed with fine young people from many backgrounds and countries, with very caring and supportive families and a staff who are devoted to our students.

We recognise that it is the right of each of our young people to develop and grow spiritually, morally, culturally as well as academically. To achieve this we build a relationship with each of our students. Being entrusted with the education and development of a young person is a privilege given to every member of the school community. Our response is to give ourselves to the people around us, to celebrate joyful moments in their lives and to listen sensitively in times of sadness and hardship.

We are optimistic and want to help everyone find fun in their lives. Above all we believe that the life of every person has a purpose and we work hard to help everyone to gain the skills, confidence, faith and self-belief to fulfil that special, unique purpose.
