School Banding

banding'Parents may have noticed that the Welsh Government has published the latest banding information for schools in Wales. Information on banding and details of all the schools in Wales can be found on the link below. Cardinal Newman is in Band 2. This means we are in the top 50% of schools in Wales. We are near the top of the band and have missed Band 1 status by one or two marks for the last three years. We are, however, one of the very few schools who have not fluctuated up and down the bands over the last three years. This demonstrates that there is solid, sustainable progress being made year on year. I thank pupils, parents, staff and governors for their support in making this progress.'

Amazon Link

screenshot smallerAs a member of the Amazon Associates Program the school website now has a link to Amazon.co.uk. Shoppers will be able to follow the link and a percentage of the price of goods purchased will be paid to the school. The money paid to the school is generated from referral advertising fees paid by Amazon and not directly added to the cost of goods in the customers’ shopping basket. The school can earn money from any purchase made after clicking the link including: books, CDs, Kindle books, electronics and more.

So, whether it’s a purchase for yourself or your family, a birthday present, Christmas presents or even something for work, a referral fee will be added to our account.

How does it work?

  • You follow the link on the school website each time you intend shopping with Amazon.
  • Shop as you would normally with Amazon
  • Amazon will then credit the school with a referral fee (between 5-7% per sale)
  • At the end of the quarter Amazon will deposit money into the school bank account
  • The school is able to see what purchases have been made, but not who made them.

CAFOD1The school has raised £1,380.56 so far, in aid of the people of the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyen through various fund raising efforts. Thank you to staff and pupils, this is a fantastic achievement for a school of this size. The school will match this amount in it's donation to the relief fund. - Mr O'Sullivan
