Exam Results

GCE results 2014Congratulations to all students who received their AS and A2 results today. 98.45% of A2 students received at least two A levels at grades A*-E. 78.29% of A2 examination results were at grade A*-C. This is a three percent rise from last year and an eighteen percent rise from 2012. 34.11% of examination results at A2 were at A*-A. These excellent results were replicated at AS level, where there was a 6.78% rise in those achieving A*-E grades and a two percent rise in those achieving A grades.

We wish all those who have sat their A2 exams the best of luck at
university and look forward to seeing our AS students back in September.

Headteacher's End of Year Message

Thank you to all pupils and staff for all of their hard work during this academic year. Thank you also to parents and governors for their help and support. We have set ourselves the target of becoming an excellent school and we are well on our way to this goal. We are well above local and national targets on every important measure. We are aiming to improve again next year. This means we are increasing our expectations of the pupils in terms of academic results, effort, behaviour and uniform. I am sure that parents share these aspirations for their children and will support us in this endeavour.

Please ensure that all pupils return next year in correct full uniform, fully equipped and ready to work. Anything other than this will be an unnecessary distraction. A full uniform list is included below for your information.

Our hopes and prayers are with the pupils who are waiting for examination results in the summer. I wish them all the best of luck.

I hope that everyone connected with the school has a safe, happy and relaxing break. I look forward to seeing all pupils back in September.

Justin O’Sullivan

Staff Retirement

A number of staff are leaving Cardinal Newman at the end of this academic year. Mrs Morgan, Mr Evans, Mrs Williams, Ms Davies, Mrs Cox, Mr Hankins and Mr Fecci are all moving on to various new challenges in September. They have over 120 years of service to the school between them. Each of them has had a large impact on the school and on the pupils that they have come into contact with. The governors of Cardinal Newman would like to thank them for their hard work over the years and wish them the very best for the future.

Rory Simmonds,

Chair of the Governing Body.
