Home to School Transport Consultation

bus stop 3As you will know RCT County Borough Council has begun a consultation on charging for discretionary transport. All transport to Church schools is discretionary. They are proposing to charge £1.75 per day per pupil and £1 per day for those on free school meals. For a family with two children in the school it would cost £665 per year. It is essential that you make your voice heard on these matters. This can be done in one of the following ways:

Cardinal Newman Catholic Comprehensive School

Tuesday 16th June 3.30- 6pm

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council will be holding a 'Home to School Transport Consultation Meeting' at Cardinal Newman on the 16th June between 3.30 and 6pm.

This meeting is an opportunity to voice your concerns directly to officers from RCT and see exactly how you are affected. We would urge every parent to attend. These proposals currently only affect those living in RCT. However, if successful they will have a long and lasting impact on the nature of this school. Every parent has a right to have their concerns answered.

RCT School Transport Consultation Update

busesRCT have now confirmed that they are consulting on proposals to introduce charges for all discretionary transport. This would mean a £1.75 per day charge for every pupil who uses RCT transport to attend Cardinal Newman, with free school meal children paying £1.

All of the Church schools in RCT are against these proposals. We have written to every Councillor, Assembly Member and Member of Parliament outlining our concerns. We would urge you to also contact your local politicians to express your concerns. The link below will give your their names, the area that they serve and their email address. It is important that Councillors and other politicians realise the impact that these changes will have on parents and families.

RCT will be publishing a full consultation document shortly. We will forward details to all parents as soon as we have them.

(These proposed changes only effect those who live in RCT. Caerphilly and Merthyr local authorities currently have no proposals to change their arrangements)
