Second Week of Advent

advent2Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.

We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.

We are your people walking in darkness yet seeking the light. To you we say,

"Come Lord Jesus!"

MFL Conference 2017

MFL2017pic1On Mon 4th December, 15 of our Y9 pupils were invited to attend the MFL conference in Cardiff City Stadium.

This was a prestigious 2 day event, which brought together nearly 400 pupils from over 25 schools across South Wales. The focus was to show the range of opportunities that studying a language at GCSE can bring, as well as the sought after skills it develops.

After starting the day with a quiz from the Spanish Embassy, we continued with an extensive tour of the stadium. We then took part in a talk from Routes into Languages, during which university students studying for a variety of degrees shared with us the advantages a language GCSE had given them.

The day was brought to a close with a treasure hunt. Congratulations to Jimmy for winning the Italian competition!

Advent 2017: Week 1

advent1Advent is a season of joyful anticipation of the Kingdom and of preparation to celebrate the birth of Jesus. To do both is not easy; Christmas preparation can overwhelm us.

As we realise how much we need God, we can more fully rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus has already come to redeem. We can long for the fullness of God's kingdom all the more as we recognize that God has already begun fulfilling the promises made to our ancestors. We can appreciate the many ways God's life touches our lives each day
