The Shakespeare Schools Festival

eye2eye1A Midsummer Night's Dream

We are delighted to announce that Cardinal Newman School is taking part once again in the annual Shakespeare Schools Festival.

This year, we have decided to perform A Midsummer Night's Dream. We will be one of 700 primary and secondary schools working with Shakespeare Schools Festival to give our pupils the opportunity to 'experience the thrill of mastering Shakespeare.' Each school will perform an abridged 30 minute version of their chosen play, and each school is free to stage the play in any way they choose, provided it meets the guidelines set out by SSF.

dance2KEY DATES:

Auditions took place at the end of the summer term - and we are now rehearsing on Tuesdays after school

> On the 10th of September 2012, the cast attended a drama workshop with pupils from Lewis Boys' School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. It was a very useful and enjoyable experience.

> On Wednesday 7th November, there will be a Shakespearean evening at 7pm in school. This will be a sociable event involving cheese, wine, poetry and Shakespeare and will provide a taster for parents, teachers, friends and family of our pupils' considerable talents.

> On Tuesday the 13th November 2012, following a dress and technical rehearsal earlier in the day, our interpretation of A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed for the public at The Richard Burton Theatre, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Tickets will be available from the theatre.

tree3Tickets for The Shakespeare Evening at school will be available from school towards the end of October.

You can buy tickets for our performance of the play at The Richard Burton Theatre, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama by contacting the box office on 029 2039 1391.
