Modern Foreign Languages

The Modern Foreign Languages department is a vibrant department which always strives to utilise the latest and most effective methods of teaching.
French is taught from year 7 through to year 13 while Italian is offered from year 10 at GCSE level and in the Sixth Form at AS level. Our results are always pleasing and above the national average.
We incorporate cross-curricular themes into teaching across all Key Stages, such as the themes of the School Mission, the Zanzibar project, Healthy Living and the Environment.

Last year, as a department, we took part in a National Curriculum levels trial and have been granted the authority to moderate our own work and award National Curriculum levels.

We organise a trip to France every other year in Key Stage 3 – this year we are running a joint French and History Visit to Normandy. Opportunities to visit France on project trips with RCT have been taken up in the Sixth Form.
