ictlogoThe school has a computer suite of 3 rooms containing over 100 machines. They are used for discrete ICT classes and also allows many other departments to book the facilities for ICT related work across all Key Stages.

In addition there are specialist suites of computers in Design & Technology (35), Media Studies (25) and Science (15). To give pupils the opportunity to experience other technologies there are a suite of Macbooks in Music (18), Chromebooks in Science (30), Kindles in I.C. (30). There are also suites of iPads (30), Chromebooks (30) and Laptops (20) for use throughout the school.

The ratio of IT devices to pupils across the school is 1 in 2.

At Key Stage 3 Cardinal Newman has a strong cross curricular approach to ICT with many departments contributing to ICT Key Skills and ICT National Curriculum levels. The major contributors to these are the Geography and History departments.

At Key Stage 4 courses are optional and allow pupils opting for ICT or Computer Science to gain a full GCSE Course qualification under the WJEC board.

At Key Stage 5 the qualifications available are BTEC ICT Level 3 and Computer Science A Level under the WJEC board.
